Like most things in FMP that confound me this will surely have a simple solution. Thanks.
Indeed it has - create a new table occurrence (TO) of table B and relate it to (your TO of) table A using the Cartesian (x) operator.
Thanks for your prompt reply. I don't know what the Cartesian operator is, and I could not find it in the Filemaker help when searching by "Cartesian".
I found the answer to cartesian "x" in another discussion, but when I set up my relationship by selecting a field in each table and selecting the "x" relationship factor I still cannot see any records in the portal.
when I set up my relationship by selecting a field in each table and selecting the "x" relationship factor I still cannot see any records in the portal.
What can I say – that's the way to do it.
Make sure …
• the relationship is only defined as 'x', not in addition to another, pre-existing predicate,
• the portal points to the correct TO,
• … ahem…sanity check! the TO's table has records (so you see rows), and
• the portal fields come from the same TO (so you see (the correct) data).
Thank you for your very thorough help. Your last item was why it wasn't working, I was pointing to the wrong TO in my portal.
