my question is i am still using Filemaker adv ver12..
must I upgrade to FIlemaker 13 to test server with my app
FileMaker 12 clients, including Go 12, Pro 12, and ProAdvanced 12, are listed as compatible clients for FM Server 13 in the KnowledgeBase on FileMaker.com.
You can use FileMaker 12 to connect to a FileMaker 13 Server database. And this will probably work fine if you do all of your scripting and layout editing in FileMaker 12 and let any FileMaker Pro 13 clients edit scripts or layouts. The problem is that FileMaker's CSS in layouts is a little different between 12 and 13 and apparently switching back and forth can mess things up (e.g., corrupt the layout). From my testing, it is fine to use FileMaker Pro 12 on FileMaker Server 13 if you don't edit layouts and scripts with FileMaker Pro 13. However, FileMaker Pro 13 can be used to edit records/fields/etc.
But I can tell you there are a lot of really cool new FM 13 features. Why not upgrade?
Filemaker 12 is been used by some clients for a couples of week to connect to a Fm 13 server database. It is working fine till now.
Yes, it should work ok if you are using it as an end user and not doing development work (e.g., editing layouts, writing scripts).
