I was trying to speed up the User Interface of a layout by hiding an object based on a $$Global variable. When it was set to "Yes", certain complicated calculation fields were hidden to make things go faster. But apparently from what I am seeing, even if they are hidden on the layout, FileMaker still processes those calculations and everything remains slow. Obviously I can jump between layouts that don't have all of the calcluation fields and I did this to test it out successfully and it really sped things up. But it sure would be nice to have one layout and FileMaker not think through fields that are hidden. Is this the expected behavior?
