Scripting Custom Finds across Tables

I have two tables: Orders and Archive. Both have identical field names as Archive is the repository for records more than three years old from Orders. My client wants to be able to perform finds across both tables with a single find request. The basic premise is the user enters Find Mode and builds the find request. A script scrapes the page and harvests the field name and data if the field has content. It performs the find and then goes to the next layout (Table), entewrs Find Mode and reconstructs the find there. It can handle multiple requests (records), but I don't see how I can determine whether the request is find or omit. This is being done in Filemaker 11 Advanced, hosted on FMS 10 Advanced.
