Use a temporary table from filemaker for form entry. Then write that data to the SQL table when you want to.
Or you could use tabs to act as your "pages" instead of multiple layouts, and block the commit in FileMaker using the OnRecordCommit layout script trigger.
thanks for the info. We will be looking at making changes to the form and what you suggested looks like it should fit into the desired outcome.
If you create your new record(s) through the relationship - permit record creation through relationship in the relationship dialogue - then you can undo that "transaction" until you have committed it - this technique originally pioneered I think by Todd Geist means you can unwind something which is for instance compromised by a network or record locking issue. This way you can get that unwind effect without requiring an additional table.
What works best for you will depend on the circumstances but there are generally several ways of doing anything in FM each with its own strengths and weaknesses - and some need less work than others.
