Is your file hosted through FileMaker server or just a network drive.
The files should be hosted through FMS or FileMaker Pro
Check the setup for the files. You can have the on file open script open
the files explicitly.
Sent from my mobile device... Please excuse typos.
It is just a network drive and the file hosting is done through Filemaker Pro.
In fact, I don't want to open the related file.
I am using the data of the related file on a layout of the principle file (through creating relationships)
On the network device, it is written on that layout (in a certain field): "file missing"
Files that reference other files require the other files to open. There is no way around that. You should put both files in the same location on the network drive. As bruce said you should set the on open script to open the related file hidden.
Re: "it is written on that layout (in a certain field): "file missing"". Are you sure the issue is not simply with that particular field?
Re: "principle" (a fundamental truth or rule), I think you mean principal (first in order of importance).
No, in fact, there is no records displayed at all in the other fields also.
Furthermore, this is working very well without a network connection.
I will try to open the file.
Thank you very much for your help.
