Read-only Privilege Sets

I use a global field for the user to type a search string (each charcter typed triggers a search script).

But now that I am creating a privilege set for a read-only user I find that I need to specify that the global search field can be changed - otherwsie the user allowed to see the data can't search.

The standard privilege set [Read-Only Access] includes the ability to write to all global fields. But I can't find any way to specify "allow write into all global fields" when defining my restricted privilege set.

Is there a better way of doing this than painstakingly specifying "no access" for every field in the table except for this one global field?
