Spinning pinwheel when printing scripts in 13 (Mac)

I needed to print (actually, PDF) a large number of scripts. In 13, I select them, click the tiny printer button or type Command-P (doesn't matter which way I try), and get a spinning pinwheel, maybe for a few seconds, maybe for several minutes (before I finally give up and force-quit, the expected Print dialog box never having appeared).

So I decided to try in 12. No problem, no spinning pinwheel no matter how many scripts I need to print. The Print dialog box displays immediately. Which I guess is an acceptable workaround, as long as none of my scripts use new 13 steps or calcs.

I did notice that when it finally appears, the print dialog box is different in 13 than in 12. 13 shows a preview of how the printed page(s) will look, but 12 does not. I wonder if this is the cause of the problem--a (really, really long) delay while it figures out the preview. Is there some way I can turn that previewing off?
