I am hosting my filemaker solution with one of the hosting solutions I found online.
Some have 10 gigabytes storage, some 200 gigabytes depending the price. It seems their vm architecture doesn't allow them to grow depending the needs of storage.
I have containers with files and my need of storage grows every day. I store the container data externally but that still counts in the original disk capacity.
I now see only one solution : Rewrite my solution to upload / download the files from another cheaper FTP server
Has anyone experience with this? What's the best way to proceed? There are multiple plug-ins. Wich one should I choose?
How come we have to leave FileMaker? Isn't there a way to hack the basepath (database location) and force filemaker to really Store Container data externally on an ftp server?
In this age of cloud computing, do we all need our dedicated disk space?
Should I start looking beyond the limited filemaker hosting services and look at Amazon AWS EC2?
How come we have to leave FileMaker?
You don't. The only thing hold you back is the disk space that the cloud providers can give you.
Amazon AWS will give you the space you need, or you can buy the hardware and host it yourself. The choice depends on what you want to spend your money on.
