Upload to FileMaker Server: Connection Failed (port 443). Log into Admin Console successful.

      QUESTION:

Why would port 443 close and how do I re-open it so I can use the Upload to FileMaker Server command?

      BACKGROUND:

On my iMac I am running FileMaker Server 13 and FileMaker Pro Advanced 13. For the past year I have been:

      (a) using Safari to log into the Admin Console and

      (b) using File:Sharing:Upload to FileMaker Server successfully

Suddenly the File:Sharing:Upload to FileMaker Server functionality FAILS. I can see my local host server but attempts to log in fail with a "Connection Failed" error.

      (a) using Safari, localhost:16001/admin-console, I can successfully log into the Admin Console completing the name and password fields.

      (b) carefully typing and re-typing my credentials into the Upload to FileMaker Server name and password fields always returns a "Connection Failed" error (see atatched screenshot).

Using the Console application to check my ports returned the following results:

      (1) IP Address = 192.168.0.8

      - search for port 440 to 450 returned port 445 open by microsoft-ds

      - search for port 5000 to 5010 returned port 5003 open by fmpro-internal

      - search for port 9080 to 9100 did not return any ports

      - search for port 50000 to 50010 returned 50004 open but no detail regarding process or application

      - search for port 16000 to 16010 did not return any ports

      (2) IP address = localhost (resolved to 127.0.0.1)

      - search for port 440 to 450 returned port 445 open by microsoft-ds

      - search for port 5000 to 5010 returned port 5003 open by fmpro-internal

      - search for port 9080 to 9100 returned 9090 open by web-sm

      - search for port 50000 to 50010 returned 50003 and 50004 open but no detail regarding process or application

      - search for port 16000 to 16010 returned ports 16001 and 16004 open but no detail regarding process or application

Checking the forum I found 3 previous posts related to this topic and most seemed to be resolved with opening port 5003 and port 443.

Again, why would port 443 suddenly close and how do I re-open it so I can use the Upload to FileMaker Server command?

      Specifications:

      Operating System = Mac OS X 10.8.5

      FileMaker Server = 13.0.1 (installed 4 December 2013 and updated to 13v1a 22 April 2014)

      FileMaker Pro Advanced = 13v4

Java = 7 Update 67 (I have been ignoring the updates to Update 71 because everything has been working fine - memories of previous Java nightmares in previous versions of FMS still wake me at night)

      Thanks in advance.
