Get(device) just seem to identify a generic iPhone user rather than the type of iPhone. To assist with layout design I would like to identify the type of iPhone and thus it's screen size. is there afan other function to do this?
Depending of the purpose… But generally it concern the screen size. So you can use a combination of theses :
For instance, if the device is an iPad mini, you can get :
Or for iPhone 5 :
Don't know if it helps but i hope…
Get ( Device ) = 4 and Get ( ScreenWidth ) = 414 ;
"iPhone 6 Plus" ;
Get ( Device ) = 4 and Get ( ScreenWidth ) = 375 ;
"iPhone 6" ;
Get ( Device ) = 4 ;
In addition to the functions offered above, one other new-to-13 function that may help is Get(ScreenScaleFactor). This function returns 1 for a non-retina screen (i.e., older iPhones) and 2 for a retina screen.
Fred and Mark have you started on the right path. Another thing I came up with to help with designing for FileMaker Go is the iOS Window Preview module. It resizes windows on the desktop to exactly match the layout real estate you have to work with on various devices.
if you follow this link, it's a discution about the Iphone size:
