yes and yes
Thanks, Howard. We'll try again. It didn't work at first. But if it is meant too, we'll give it a go with confidence.
I use 12.04 on my Windows Machine all the time. I have never had trouble installing it. Install 12.o1 to start and then patch 12.04
What do you mean 'it didn't work"? ... more details = better problem solving
Thank you for the feedback. I will try to be more detailed. My assistant
did get Filemaker 12 installed now. I really do think we just needed the
confidence to know it would so we tried harder to find the right
installer. I was giving her a MAC one, didn't know the DMGs were unique to
each Operating System.
DMGs is a MAC format, so it is not really unique to each operating system, DMGs will run on different MAC OS. I do use a mac on occasion, but I'm more of a Windows users.
Windows download format differ: The Filemaker installer is in a Zip file, but it not unusual to see exe files which can be a compress zip file or then the original file itself non compressed.
Thanks. That is very helpful. I'm a MAC person and always save my DMG's.
I'll have to remember to get my hands on the PC installers for our staff
and hang onto them myself
Thanks for the tip. Never really absorbed that fact.
When you purchase FM for downloading there are two links, one for Windows and another for MACs (Both are included in Purchase). These download links are only available for a short period of time and several user never download both and then they are stuck later when they need the other format. I create a folder in dropbox called Filemaker ## Full Or Upgrade Install and then I have two subfolders, Windows and MAC, then I download each format to their folder and I always have a backup of both. Another helpful tip is that I put my serial key in a text file, so I always have it with my backup.
Note : ## is the version number of Filemaker.
Thank you! I love your suggestion. I never downloaded the PC versions, and
now I am stuck. But - not really, cause Filemaker helped me out and we got
the right version now. thanks!
