I just logged in 11:42 Pacific on January 2 to discover the same symptoms.
To troubleshoot, I went to check my "Following" preferences to see if somehow they had been changed to stop following things in my InBox. FWIW: The options to select to follow things in my InBox or connection stream no longer appear.
When it was first rolled out, it took me a number of days to figure out how to use the new Community system with the same degree of efficiency that I enjoyed in its previous incarnation.
Fortunately, with tips from friends and some experimentation, I discovered that by leveraging the new streams and the InBox, I could still read and interact with forum content enjoying the level of efficiency/convenience to which I had previously become accustomed.
The loss of inbox contents is a blow to this advance in usability; I experience it as a setback with respect to being part of the FileMaker Community.
I am sure that some solution is in the works, and I thank you in advance for that.

Same for me. I'm also no longer receiving emails.
As an addendum to flesh out a list of the symptoms that I'm seeing, I'll attempt to attach screen shots to illustrate the following:
1) I no longer see an option to follow a discussion category
2) In some cases I no longer see a button to follow a conversation
3) In other cases, the button to follow a conversation exists, but using it results in an error (see bottom of screen)

As Steve pointed out: no follow, no email preferences for what you are following, so no email. Not even digests (which I also tested). It's early yet in Santa Clara. Hopefully this will be fixed today.
as of 1 pm (eastern) it all appears to "be there"...

It is really nice to have this functionality back.
As I am not certain that it is related to this, I'll post a new bug that seems to have started today in a separate thread.
