I got eMails all last year. Suspect you mean Jan 1, 2015. I did get a Filemaker Community update yesterday at 10:05 am MST.
"Men won't read any email from a woman that's over 200 words long." ~Douglas Coupland
Whoops, yes, I did mean 2015. Have you gotten the community disc8usstion emails today or was the one at 10:05 the last one?
Thanks for pointing out my mistake! Happy New Year
Correction: Meant to say: all emails stopped as of Jan. 1, 2015
anyone else not getting theirs?
Yes, that is what I meant, thank you, Phil.
I stopped receiving emails after Jan 1st 3pm EDT so it's not just you.
The last email that I have receive was on 1/1/15, UTC-06:44.
Hi Mark & JGalt
thanks for confirming. Hopefully someone from FMI will be available on Monday.
In the meantime I am wondering if the two of you have the same scenario as I?:
In order for me to filter these emails into a TechTalk folder in Outlook but NOT have my business emails go there as well, I had to setup two users with separate email addresses. if you look above, I am "thebridge" as well as "Robert Bloomfield".
The TechTalk/Community emails were being sent to my Robert Bloomfield email which is NOT my primary company email address.
I don't know why this would be an issue unless it is because my first and last name is the same in both profiles and I do business with FileMaker under "thebridge" account.
FileMaker Inc. had instructed me/us to do it this way if we didn't want the Tech Talk emails coming to our primary account email address.
Were either of you doing similar?,
See my reply to Mark, were you configured in a similar fashion?
Thanks for reaching out.
I just realized that my two profile names are displaying differently than before but that has no bearing on receiving emails.
on thios thread it is showing me as abridgesolution and Robert Bloomfield. Robert Bloomfield is my main account and not the one I received emails on.
I have tried to alter my preferences as per the instructions FileMaker Inc provided after the new system was installed but can't seem to find the preference for receiving SINGLE emails anymore.
Digest here. Also stopped functioning in any useful way. Digest arrives each 24 hours, WITHOUT any posts. Great. Combined with no easy way to scroll back through recent posts, totally pointless. Fortunately, my renewal is due in a couple of days so it's time to uninstall the dev FMS copy and not renew. (Money more usefully diverted to a hosting service for testing purposes.)
To keep things separate I created a mail rule on my server to redirect any mail from email@example.com to a another mail account. Not perfect but it works.
If only this system would start sending individual messages again...
On what I believe is a related note:
Starting at around the same time as mentioned here, other forum members have lost Inbox and Stream configurations.
The result of our losing InBox and Stream configurations is also a loss of the email functionality.
There is currently another thread about this topic here:
I do not know whether this amounts to the same root problem, a related problem, or just coincidence.
As steve_ssh pointed out. Emails are controlled by what you are following. If you go here: https://community.filemaker.com/activity you will see what you are "following" etc. For me and I suspect several others, the streams and following data has broken. Thus the reason why emails have stopped.
I'm sure Matt will take care of it Monday. It's a little frustrating for me. It's impossible to follow what's going on in an easy or meaningful way on this site now. The streams and inbox work-around helps a little. But it complete circumvents the utility of the site. And I suppose that in my opinion as a developer, if many of your users are circumventing the natural UI of the software, well...I'll let you fill in the blanks.
I like contributing, I like learning, I like connecting with other developers and users. I renewed my FDS in hopes that some of the issues on this site can and will be worked out over the coming months.
