You could check for errors.
If Get (LastError ) <> 0
Show Custom Dialog [ "The required directory is missing. etc.]
Error 800 is returned if the user doesn't have write permissions or if the path is invalid.
That's an elegant and native way of doing it.
Alternatives are to use:
- OS-level scripting (AppleScriot on Mac - through the "perform applescript" script step, CMD on Windows through the "send event" script step)
- or a plugin that has the capability (like the free BaseElements plugin, Troi File,...)
I use Troi. This nice thing about the plugin or OS scripting is that you can check for the directory in advance and create it if necessary. It is more work and possibly cost up front but I think it creates a better user experience.
I am using Mac develop FM app on FM server, users are Window-based remote access via FM client.
I am new to Perform Applescript step. Do you think you can give me some leading guide for me to start. Thank you.

AppleScript is not going to work here. You have to use the OS-level scripting for the OS that the clients use.
