WHat hardware, what OS, what disk, how much RAM, what sub-version of FMS?
IS something else than FMS running on that machine? Sometimes backups (TimeMachine) and indexing cause problems.
ON a machine with low RAM it sometimes takes looong to startup (admin console). I agree with Carl - a restart can help
Its windows 8.1 laptop with 16 gb ram. I had it installed before and I dont have any problem. I formatted my laptop and I want to installed it again. I tried restarting 5 times still giving me same problem.
ANd before formatting, the sam OS ws installed? Strange..
NO new Java? What, if You leave the machine running for a while (no sleep..)?
WHat's about the speed while working from clients?
Same OS, I will check the Java.
This has happened to me a few times. You might also:
- Check the event manager to see if a dependent service is getting hung up (red "x")
- Make sure Java is fully updated prior to running Filemaker
- Check the performance tab in task manager to confirm that you're not maxing out your memory.
- Lastly, you may try reinstalling Filemaker with the antivirus system turned off. I've also gotten bad installs when the source installation folder is located on a network connected server.
