I'm kind of interested if anybody uses this technique in Filemaker.
It's a mix of transactional approach and creating new records via relationship using "SetField" that toddgeist showed in his transactions video.
I don't know if I'm making something completely new here, chances are someone is using this already.
It works best for closely related data like: stuff goes out and comes back in in batches.
Mostly all goes out in one go but may come in in different stages.
Most important thing for me is being able to display, update and automate related data so there's no need to pick individual items from lists,
but also it's a workaround for a "virtual input field" like one can use in HTML.
Probably the file will explain this technique the best. The solution is very oversimplified, mind you.
I'd like to get your opinions, if you can find the time...
What is different than what the concept of the transactions are? I had a bit of a hard time figuring out what you are doing that would be considered new.
You're basically keeping records open through a portal until the user runs a script to commit, right?
