I have an Ipad file that is primarily offline and I am setting it up to connect to a hosted solution over Wi-Fi to update a few simple records.
I know there are many ways to accomplish this but I wondered is my method a reasonable one.
Its simple enough that I am creating an external source to a hosted filemaker file, creating a relationship to it and simply using SET field to update the related record.
It works and I can easily catch the error if there is no live connection however my only issue with it is that I have to "hard code" the external file / address in external data sources.
So when I send this to the client I will always have to be careful that I have their server address etc.
With multiple clients and testing servers of my own this is a pain.
Hopefully this is making sense..
