HOW to use  "specify find requests"

    gyurim

The new enter find mode then  Specify screen needs explenation , at least for me.

I need to find tax year and code,

      different tax year  and code,

      Omit a specific code

it should be simple, but it is not working for me

Is there a narrative to explain these screens?

      help is appreciated

      George

          generally it holds the following:

If you are able to search for it, you're able to store the search for it.

          Concretely:

          1) do a search

          2) create a new script, push "perform find" from the right list into the script.

          3) bottom right, check the "specify find requests" box, click on ok and you're done, or if you're curious look at what the "specify find requests" contains and then click on ok.

The last search you did is now forever encapsulated into the perform find script step.

FileMaker Training Series has a chapter on how to use Find. It is fairly detailed.  It is not clear what you are trying to find. This will let you find records for two tax years, exclude records for a particular code and  add records for two more codes

            1. Select "View / Find mode" menu from the top and select "Find Mode"
            2. Enter the first tax year
            3. Go to "Requests" and select "Add New Requests"
            4. Enter the second tax year
            5. Go to "Requests" and select Add New Requests
            6. Add code you would like to exclude
            7. Change "Matching Records" in the status bar to "Omit"
            8. Go to "Requests", select "Perform Find"
            9. Select "View / Find mode" menu from the top and select "Find Mode"
            10. Enter the additional code
            11. Go to "Requests" and select "Add New Requests"
            12. Enter the second code
            13. Go to "Requests" and select "Extend Found Set"

All actions can be performed with shortcuts or buttons from Status bar
