Try this: In the value list select "show values only from second field"
Depending on the situation it might be suitable or not.
Show only second field was not really my concerned. I am afraid the original question post was not that clear.
in situation 1, you can type in field like "abc bcd" , and the value list gives you a filtered list.
in situation 2, you can not.
and i want to know if there's a way to do the same like situation1.
Unfortunately not possible. The dropdown will always filter by the first field that is shown.
First let's say i do use only display second field.
the difference is in 1, the "Auto-Complete" option for value list is selected.
but in 2, the option "Auto-Complete" is dimmed out.
That's why there search capability are different. 1 is much better than 2 .l
Here are the reasons why and how autocomplete behaves.
For a quick view I've included som most important info here.•
Only fields defined as Text fields can be set to use auto-complete. (Numerical, date, or any other type of textual data can be stored in a text field.)•
Auto-complete is not supported in drop-down lists when the value list used is configured to use Also display values from second field, Show values only from second field, or Sort by second field.
