Does anyone know what SQL standard does FMP's ExecuteSQL function use? Is it entirely proprietary or does it based on an existing standard? MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, etc? What's the best source for reference?
"support SQL-92 entry-level conformance, with some SQL-92 intermediate features. "
There are some difficulty to get how it works when using unstored fields.
yeah, good luck with trying to use SQL-92 as the standard for FileMaker's ExecuteSQL function. Just suffice it to say that YMMV (or YKmMV). Peter, see the link I posted to your last eSQL question. The PDF should help a lot!
Hah! Thanks Beverly, thanks user19752 -- that's been my experience trying to find a reliable ref. for ExecuteSQL. Eventually there always seems to be an answer but only, it seems, after trying every last syntax version out there. MySQL I tend to reference the most. Is there a reference out there you find particularly reliable?
MySQL syntax is generally what I use and have had good luck with.
The only considerations I take into account for FileMaker are the reserved words list, the functions that filemaker can NOT perform, and the SQL CAPS syntax (EG: SELECT field FROM table WHERE field = value)

Thanks for that. Hadn't seen the "Reserved Words" before
