Why does my calculation name field (full name) not appear on the iPad unless the curser is in the field? How Can I get it to show?
I can imagine a variety of causes, but one that immediately comes to mind has to do with how the calculated field is stored. Under certain circumstances calculated fields that are stored don't represent their intended calculated value, esp. when the calculation is gathering data from a related table. In that case a solution is to force the value to not be stored. Consequence of doing that, however, is it becomes un-indexable and therefore slow to search and impossible to use in a relationhip when there are large numbers of records. On the good side, you get a more robust updating process.
If that's doesn't solve it, you might want to give more details about the table(s) (how many), and fields, and the calculation involved.
Are you using conditional formating which could change the format of the text when the field is not active.
Could be a number of reasons. Could you post your file, or recreate the issue on a sample file?
13+ creates IOS fields that are formatted for extra space. If you resize the fields as drawn by FileMaker, then the text won't show until the cursor enters the field and it expands. Removing the upper and lower margines in the inspector eliminates this problem. Also format the field to center and you can add more than one row of text.
Away from my file until Monday. Will get back to you. Thx
