Database sync

Scenario:

I have a database file used by more people separately on ipad, pc, mac.

I would like them to work offline and then sync data on demand.

People can occasionally modify same records.

I think one solution could be:

- Keep the main file on filemaker server.

- Clients use their own copy to work daily.

- When needed, data can be synchronised using third part tool

- when either interface or db changes are made on main file, people will reload version from server.

Is that correct and easily achievable ?

Is any other solution easier or anyway better ?
