FM11 is an old version and was developed before Mavericks and Yosemite. As FMI states it may install and run but you may encounter issues that there are no resolutions for. You should update to a version of FM that is certified to work with the OS you have installed.
Applescript is a pain. It can be many things
Each version of FileMaker, and the OS, changes things ever so slightly
Does it work when run in the script editor ?
A Google search for "applescript Yosemite slow" shows some similar posts
> Does anyone know why FM 11( with Maverick and Yosemite ) is so slow to execute applescript?
He states that when run alone it is fast.
There have been some changes to applescript in recent updates of OSX.
It would be worth testing on FMP 13 minimum, preferably 14.
It you don't have the latest version, download a trial it see how that behaves.
When you test it stand alone, do you access filemaker library too? or pass only static data for the calendar event?
Thanks for all answers!
Confirm that in script editor the execution of applescript is immediate and in this case not access filemaker library but use static data.
Unfortunately I am not ready to switch to the latest versions if FM.
I understand but just as a test on a demo version to see if it will make a difference. Make a copy of the file and convert it to fmp12.
Otherways if you want to post your script someone here may be willing to run a test for you.

I tried using FM and 14 is extremely fast.
The problem will be resolved by switching to the new version...
