!FileMaker Server 13
what does 'BD' mean? Please provide some more infos - OS, browser, OS server, etc.
I’m assuming he meant “DB”, and it’s just a typo.
What’s your your machine set-up: hardware, software? There could be a lot of reasons for this. One of those could be that your setup is insufficient. Check it agains the minimum requirements for FileMaker 13.
Hope this helps,
THen the next question: Can the demo database that came with the server installation be opened via WebDirect?
- if this one wouldn't start: Below requirements (not just a bit... I've had a machine with 2GB RAM working for simple DB's) or an installation problem.
btw: What version of the server (13.02, 13.03...)?
Hi. it was a typo, i mean DB, we have windows server 2008, 6 GB ram and a xeon processor, it is FileMaker Server 13.0.1 and it was working fine for a year just recently (like a week ago) the web publishing engine crash when you open a particular database, first it happen just whit one DB but then it happen whit 4 DB, then whit 9 DB and I think it will be a moment when all DB can’t be open by web direct, we still have databases that can be open whit web direct, one of those the FileMaker server sample.
When we had our first DB that can be open by web direct we redo this DB from scratch and still not work, we didn’t install anything new on the server because it was working really fine, I can’t think of anything that generate this
So if you didn't install anything on the server, try updating the server to the latest version. Always use the latest available version for your OS.
If that doesn't do the trick, try reinstalling FileMaker server. Make sure to save your settings first (schedules and groups).
Then update your server to the latest version.
Also, you might have an issue with IIS. That might be worth checking into, as well.
Avísame si necesitas ayuda.
it is FileMaker Server 13.0.1
it is FileMaker Server 13.0.1
You may want to update first to the most current 13 version.
Other than that: check the logs for any clues as to why the crash happens. Clearly if it was working fine and now it does not then it has to be because of a change:
- a change in your database
- or a change on the server (hardware, new OS patch, some other setting change,...)
so if you can track down the change you're halfway down the path to solving it
13.01 was a little bit buggy - concerning WebDirect (and admin console). Does restarting the server change anything?
Hi, i restart the server but it didn’t work, the general advice is “reinstall the fm server to the latest version” but I’m not really comfortable doing that because i have some other thing working whit FileMaker server that are working fine and if a reinstall fm server I will have to configure everything again, that’s why I want to check if it happen to someone else and if is any way to fix it. I contact someone that say it happen to him in the past and it happen because of a pdf upload into a container, I will check that and the log. The wired thing is that only some data bases crash the web engine publishing and that is recently, a week ago every data base was working fine in web direct
Updating the server shouldn't cause any issues. If you reinstall it, you can save your settings, as I mentioned earlier. Worse come to worse, you can always put it back to this version. But I would highly recommend upgrading.
I don't speak Spanish so I can't comment on the responses in Spanish. ;-)
when updating the server and using SSL: Take care about the 13.09 changes according to SSL (as described in the instructions)
We kept the rest of the Spanish conversation on a private message . I told him to contact me directly if he needed help.
Jaime sent me the trouble file, which is a tiny file with one table and one field. I uploaded it to my FMS14 and worked as expected so the file is not the problem.
All points to his server, which is FMS13. Don't know if it was updated to the latest version.
according to the FM14 webinars, it should be save to use Pro 14 on Server 13, even 12 (except for FMGo). So it shoulld not be a general issue with '14 on 13'. Allmost all of my work until now is on server 13, Pro Adv are 14 (I just don't have a Mac that runs the required OS for srv14 at the moment...)
Thank you, Ibrahim. We all are here to learn from each other. If people switch languages mid-thread it makes it harder to follow. So, thank you for switching back and updating us.
Yeah, sorry for that. Jaime is a good friend of mine and I replied him without thinking.
Well, the problem seems to be the java installation on the server and FileMaker server itself, unfortunately I will have to reinstall it, I didn’t want to do this but it looks like the only solution, thanks everybody for helping J
I am sorry, but if you do not update with the updaters from 13.0v2 to 13.0v5 at least, or 13.0v9 you may continue to be in trouble. But you also have to consider: Even though you did not do anything to the server ... was something done within the FileMaker solution, some new fields, calculations, scripts or scriptwriters or some changes to the schema?
Hi Jaime, it will be good for you to move all the way to 13.0v9 and later to 14.0v2 or newer ... especially with WebDirect it will be a true winner for you to move to 14. So plan for going to one of the latest versions of 13 now and start considering the change to 14
