get ( foundcount ) ?
See also get ( recordnumber ) and get ( totalrecordcount ).
Would I use that as a field calculation? Can you give me an example.
Chris Cann. (you two really have similar names …) –
do you have FM14?
Oliver (for something completely different)
No, I'm using 13.
Either way, yes, you would enter that as a calculation. Make sure it's unstored.
Too bad – in 14, you can do this (never mind the aesthetics) in 2 mins.:
just using a button bar (well, three, actually); no field(s) required.
On the other hand, you still don't need a field in 13, either; use merge text like so:
It's just for fancy (or any) calculations that you'd a field, or a merge variable and a script.
Don't make a field just for showing the found count, that's wasteful.
There's a merge constant for found count, current record number and total record count. They are available in 13.
Just go into layout mode, get a text box started, and go to Insert > Other Symbol. There are tons of constants you can use there, pretty much every Get() function, without the need to create a field. I've used the heck out of these since they were introduced.
See attached for what it should look like.
(sorry, posted the above before I saw erolst responded with the same)
