I am trying to have a button with different text colour in a button bar. Is there a way?
Select the segment and apply Conditional Formatting, using the Formula True (or 1).
Wow! Thank you.
@ guessmaster and erolst
Well I had the same question and gave erolst "solution" a try, but I found that it interferes with the "hover", "button pressed", "active", "inactive" formatting options. Conditional formatting override those nice formatting options and at least for me erolst solution doesn't work for me.
I keep on trying other options, and keep you posted when I have a better solution.
A similar topic came up on the FMP forum in the pass couple of days. They wanted to changed the color of the buttons, instead of the color of the text in the buttons.
I think FMI just over looked this feature of the button bar.
Maybe if everyone makes a feature request they will add the feature to the button bar.
Feature Request link : Company | FileMaker
Thanks for pointing that out. I read the other threads, and I spend all afternoon yesterday to make it work as I want it with all the input of the forum. The below thread gives some insight how to work around it.
FM14 Button Bar Active State
IMHO the aim is to get the feature without workarounds so you can concentrate on the real database programming and not waste precious time on button bar layout. It might have been overlooked as you said. )n the other hand it has been requested by my customers a lot, so I will issue a feature request next week. On the other hand the new button bar with all the new options is a very nice feature, that's why I implemented it on most customer layouts.
Thanks for your input.P.S. I for myself see the question as not answered.
I agree that is why I added a feature request link to my post. See the Feature Request Link statement in my above post.
When the feature is not built in all you can do is use a work around.
Thanks for that, I just requested this feature. Before, I used to call Filemaker support for feature requests,
but this is actually a better way. I am wondering if such requests
can be tracked somehow to check the progress and lets see how we go with my other requests.
I don't know of a way to track the request. FMI usually does not comment on future updates. That being said FMI did state a new update is scheduled for next month, which is new for FMI.
FMI just has updated the feature request site in the last month, and I believe more changes are coming.
I have seen FMI add items that have been requested, then I have seen post from others that state features have been request for 25 years and still hasn't made it into the product. The button bar is new with FM14, and to me it would only make sense for FMI to add this to the button bar. It's not like it would be a major upgrade or a major change for FMI compared to the improvement it would make to the product. I have not used the button bar much yet, but that is because I wait until everyone else finds the bugs. I used in testing, and it is a nice new feature. I made a feature request myself : I request the ability to change the color of the buttons as well as the text of the buttons in the button bar.
