How Do i Create an If Statement that Evaluates a $localeVariable and a field that contains numbers, or Letters/Words (Words From a List).
If it is Numbers it will do this
if it is Letters (or Words that Are in a List) it will do that
IsEmpty ( GetAsNumber ( $localVariable ) ) should give 1 for solely text characters, 0 if numerals are included
Nice. An alternative:
IsEmpty( Filter ($localVariable ; "0123456789" ) ) - will return 1 if text only.
set variable $var =
PatternCount("Your list of words";$localvariable);0;
<some other logical conditions>
if($var = 1) <do some logic>
elseif($var = 0) <do something else>
// stuff for numbers
// stuff for text
Not bad, but $localVariable = 0 will evaluate to 0 and it is number
The same applies to any number between -1 and 0, e.g. Ceiling ( -0.9999999) = 0
sure, you're right, I assumed OP's "Numbers" being a synonym for positive values.
That also doesn't account for his needing to test for patterns of text.
"or Letters/Words (Words From a List)"
Could the list of words contain numbers ? Something like:
Could the numbers be alpha-numeric?
The Numbers are actually Bar Codes, So only Numbers
