What you describe is not possible.
I would guess that you either have two similar records in table A and you have mistaken an existing record for the one deleted, or the portal is based on a different table--the table A record could be linked to the table on which the portal is based and thus the deletion deleted the linking record--which causes it to drop out of the portal, but remain in Table A.
... That's what I thought. But I did confirm that while the occurrances are different, the table is the same.
This particular portal uses your "master-slave" portal system, described here, and is the "SelectedGrandchild" portal:
Could that have something to do with it?
Well, I think I found the answer: ONE of the occurrances of TABLE A was not set to "delete related records in this table when a record is deleted in the other table."
Does that make sense that this would be the issue?
That should have nothing directly to do with whether or not the record gets deleted by the delete portal row action. It could control whether a Related record is Also deleted when the record is deleted from the portal's table.
Are you possibly using web publishing or an iOS device?
It could be a syncing issue, where it takes a little bit to register.
The file is entirely Mac Desktop based. No mobile devices or web publishing. I"m on FM11, btw.
Here's the behavior I just observed:
A) I created a new portal row onTable A, and checked it's ID#
B) I opened a 2nd window of related records, showing only records from Table A, and confirmed that the record ID# was there.
C) on Window 1, I deleted the portal row.
D) on Window 2, I refreshed the window by doing a "find all" and the record was still there!
E) I closed Window 2, and opened window 3 (showing records from Table A), and clicked "show all." The record was not there.
.... This behavior confuses me. I would think that doing a "find all", even on a previously open window, would show that the deleted record no longer existed.
After step C) click a blank area of the layout before moving on to step D. Does that change the results?
