Are all these fields from related tables where the field may appear empty because there isn't a related record?
That would explain what you are describing here.
In any case, since you want the records where the field is not empty, use the * wild card to find all records that contain a value in the field instead of omitting records where the field is empty.

Yes, you're exactly correct (duh!).
I tried = and ≠ as Find criteria, but forgot to try * wild card (which worked perfectly).
