Was the "switch to" layout now the last layout you had up before you closed and re-opened the file? If the file is not shared, it will open to whatever layout was last up just before it closed.
The last layout was one that was opened by the OnFirstWindowOpen script. Also tried switching to another layout and then closing the file.
In every case, the "switch to" layout comes up - even though "switch to" is no longer checked - and then the scripted layout comes up.
Btw, the file is hosted on FMS13
My answers were in terms of a file that is not hosted.
Which layout is the default will be determined by which layout was up the last time you had the file down off the server and open on a local machine in that case.
I think i see what you're saying. Although my relative newness to FM is probably preventing me from understanding fully....But for this hosted file, what I observe is that the layout designated as the "switch to" is still appearing, even though:
1. It was not the last layout accessed. 2. "switch to" has since been un-checked.
It appears to persist even after un-checking "switch to". When i re-activate "switch to" and use a different layout, that layout is the one that still comes up even after un-checking "switch to".
And to repeat, this will be the case unless:
a) close the file and remove it from the server
b) open the file directly in FileMaker Pro
c) select a different layout
d) close the file
e) return the file to the server and open it again.
But this really shouldn't be a major issue in most cases. Using FileOptions to make sure that a particular layout is the first one seen is a pretty standard setup--and a script can be performed OnFirstWindowOpen if you need different users to see different layouts when they first open the file on their client machines.
Got it. Thank you.
Sorry for my ignorance. New to FileMaker and especially to Server.
