I'm *far* from a FM guru, so take with a grain of salt.
But if you do a page set up, and selct paper size, etc. Afterwards, you shold see dotted lines dictating the 'paper size' So you can alter your laytout to fit the correct data inside the lines.
That does not do it.
I have the layout at 22" wide for each record. I want to print the record with half on front and the other half on the back using a duplex printer. I have 80 records so I want each recorded printed front and back on 80 pages.
How do I split the record do that?
Have you tried going two pages TALL rather than two pages WIDE?
See if that doesn't get you where your trying to go...
Any object to the right of the vertical page break line will not print. Any object below the horizontal page break line will print on the next page, which should be the back side in the case of duplex printing. Thus, you need to divide your layout vertically instead of horizontally. You may want to duplicate your current layout, resize layout parts and reposition layout objects for this purpose and then use this new layout for printing purposes.
Sorry, that didn't do it.
do you need to use software that supports duplex printing?
how does microsoft word do it?
Please describe what you've done and what resulted when you tried to print.
no you do not. word prints just fine.
I've made the layout double wide and tried it double tall. I only get the front page it does not try to print anything on back side. I tried different page sizes and orientations still nothing on back side. Any suggestions would be helpful.
When you print from the "double tall" layout, do you get two one sided pages or does the second page not print at all?
the second page does not print at all
also in my layout it shows the correct position for the first page break but there is a second page break line half way down the second page which I don't know how to move.
You should be able to print everything to the left of the vertical page break line. It may print out over several pages. It may not print on the back side of the page, but it should print.
Let's back up and take a closer look at your layout.
Is your layout designed to show data from just one record of the layout's specified table?
What layout parts does this layout have? (Header, body, footer...?)
Exactly how did you go about redesigning your layout so that all desired layout parts are to the left of the vertical page break line?
Also, have you tried the PrintSetup step prior to printing?
Could it be set by some default to print only pages 1 to 1?
Have you verified that the fields on pg 2 (back) are not set to "Do not print..."
That they aren't set to slide and reduce the enclosing part?
The fact that pg 2 doesn't print at all is it's own issue, one that would need to be resolved prior to finishing tweaking the layouts to their final design.
Having it two pages tall, and print setup to double side print should work fine, or at the very least print two single side pages.
