Access to a specific field
Is there any way to deny a user with otherwise Full Access, access to a specific (calculated) field?
Not if they really want to access that field. A full access user can modify the database design in order to access fields if they want.
If you want to avoid accidental access of the field, you can use behavior settings in the inspector's data tab to deny browse mode access to the field. Then no user can access the field on that layout while in browse mode.
Don't think I was specific enough. What I need is for a client to not be able to view the calculation for just one specific field in Manage Database/Fields. Not sure this is possible.
Not if they are a full access user. Full access means full access.
I thought so. I've ben trying to work out a Privilege Set for this user that allows access to everything except just that one calculated field.
Many thanks for your input.
Could you put that one calculation field in a different related table and put that table in a different file--one for which the user does not have full access?
Yes, I'm sure that would work. Thanks a lot!
