adapt size and position of a textbox

      Post

      hi all,

using filemaker pro 11. I'm making a database with the only purpose of print some pre-writed relation, the only field that must change is the receiver. The receiver's data are name, adress, ZIP code, City and district.

Sometimes happens a long name and a short city or adress and vice versa.

Setting a standard lenght for the text it can happens that the district is very far from the city or the text are not justified or the long name isn't displayed in the text,

is a way to auto-adjust the position and the lenght of the text field depending by the inserted text?

          Two options:

          1. Set large width's to each field and use the Inspector's Position tab to set them "slide left". This change will only be visible when in Preview mode or when printing/saving as PDF.
          2. Use merge text. Enter layout mode, click on the layout text tool to select it and then click the layout where you want this row of data. Use Merge Field from the Insert Menu to insert each field in turn, placing at least a space between each field so that they don't run together. You will not be able to edit the fields on this layout, but their widths should adjust to display information as a continuous line of text.
