I'm using Filemaker Pro 10 on XP Pro. I started with the standard contact management database. There is a button that says "add a note' in the "note" tab. I don't know what I changed, but when I click the add a note button it stars a new record.
Well that script is supposed to create a new record in the notes table. It sounds like it is creating a new record in the Contact Management table.
Compare the script in your DB to this:
Set Variable [ $ID_Contact; Value:Contact Management::k_ID_Contact ]
Go to Layout [ "Notes_Utility" (Notes) ]
Set Field [ Notes::kf_ID_Contact; $ID_Contact ]
Commit Records/Requests [ Skip data entry validation; No dialog ]
Go to Layout [ original layout ]
Go to Field [ Notes::Text ]
