Adding a username/password to my file in a runtime solution
Is this easy to do? Adding a username/password requirement when the user opens the app?
You should be able to use Manage Security to have this work.
So that the runtime user can designate their own username and password?
I know I can force the user to change their password on first launch of the app, but how would they specify a uername?
Explore the Accounts Script steps. Im sure you could specify a fieldname or variable where required on the add account step.
Also, I cannot seem to build a runtime that does not require a log/pass when it launches. Is it possible to just have the app launch without demanding a username and password? (I know it's not secure, but it will work while I figure out the log/pass issues).
In FileOPtions you can specify that an account name and password be used automatically to open the file.
When setting up scripts and fields to manage account names and passwords in your account, be sure to use the "run with full access privileges" script setting so that a user can run these scripts to modify an account without having to first open the database with a full access account.
This is good information. I clearly need to review what you mean by setting up scripts and firlds to manage names and passwords. I do not fully understand that.
That's only if you want your runtime users to be able to change/add accounts and passwords. There's a set of script steps that you can use in conjunction with some (usually global) text fields for that purpose.
