      Auto-populate based on field selection to a new field

      Post

      To make myself more clear - I have a table that stores Child ID and Child Full Name.  These fields are used as a value list assigned to another table.

      So -

      Child Intake stores Child ID and Child Full Name
      Child Placement has a drop down that pulls the Child ID and Child Full Name as the value list from Child Intake table
      Stores ID
      i also need to have the Full Name populate into a field on the Child Placement table after the ID is selected.

      How can this be done?

          If you have this relationship between your two tables:

          ChildIntake::ChildID = ChildPlacement::ChildID

          Then you can place the Full name field from ChildIntake directly on your ChildPlacement layout and the selected child's name will be displayed. You can even use Behavior settings in the inspector to keep users from being able to enter this field and then place it directly on your drop down so that you can click into the drop down and select a child, but the child's name is what you see displayed instead of the number.
