1) Import Records | Folder can import all image files from a specified folder into a container field in individual records in your database. The same import can put the file name of each image file into a text field in the same table.
2) You can then use Import Records | File to import the Excel data into a different table. Each row of data in the Excel file will become a record in the FileMaker table that you specify as the "target" table.
You can then use a relationship that links the record with the image to the record with the excel data by the file name. If your excel column includes both filename and file path, you may need to use a calculation field to extract just the filename from this data to use as the match field in your table of excel data.
Awesome thanks for the unbelievable fast answer!
i already imported all images, no probs to import the excel (didn't work but I'll figure out).
Using relationships: is that a script that I would run?
It is not a script. You would Go to Manage | Database | Relationships and link the two tables by FileName fields. You would go to manage | Database | Fields if you need to add a calculation field to extract the file name from the file path if that is necessary.
Thanks again, very much appreciated. Will try this tonight in more depth (setting up correct tables etc, since I work based on the template 'product catalog). This help was exactly what I was looking for!
