Best Practice? expand current database or start new and link?
I have a database written and in use to generate our product quotations for customers.
We currently use Act as a CRM but really only use it to log calls and prices given.
I am proposing to write the telephone call logging etc into a filemaker database. the customer base is the same as in the Quotation database and obviously the telephon calls which need to be logged can be regarding the quotations. The quote database was written in a way which leads the user through the process of generating a quote and is working well.
The Quote database is quite complex with many tables and relationships. The next expansion is to link via obdc into our ERP system and web publish stock, availability, prices etc for our customers.
Would it be better to start a new Customer relations database and link into the customer table on the quote database or would it be better to add the customer relation database functionality to the quote database?
