What you describe sounds like either a bug or an error in the documentation--what we sometimes refer to as a "documentation bug". Both can be reported to the Tech Support staff if you post this report in Report an Issue.
I will put a bug report in. Also have been exploring some more and found a few instances of IE 11 that do not work, and some that do. It's infuriating!
The 'unsupported' browsers (Firefox and Chrome) seem to be the ones that work best. Haha
