can you post a screenshot in Layout Mode?
sorry still doesn't help as you haven't included the part boundaries...it may be that your tab control is a pixel into the header ? or one of your icons is a pixel into the body...
sorry this is all new to me
When you are in Layout Mode, you will see on the left edge the names of the parts of your layout 'Body', 'Header' etc...refer screen shot
It may be that a field, icon or tab control overlap from one part to the next...
and also notice that in the very bottom corner of the window is a button, adjacent to the zoom button, to toggle display of the part names from vertical to horizontal....
Ok it appears to be the buttons that link to containers
the containers open empty when a new record is selected
the containers contain medical docs - PDF's which i need to access on each record
yes containers are designed to open empty when a new record is created,
can you describe exactly what is supposed to happen when you click the button indicating, for example, an angiogram?
Hi Thanks for your patience
Ok lets take the three grey buttons on the left
1 opens our medical protocols
2 opens our pharmacology protocols
3 opens a copy of drug license
all three are PDF's with multiple pages
the other button SYMBOL H - opens a list of emergency departments for the greater Sydney Area, again multiple page PDFs
(PDFs are not always there when I open them ???)
in one other section OUR RADIO LOG - is an event map button - which should open an event map supplied by the event organiser
again a PDF in a container
OK, so when you click those various buttons, you want the various files to display in Adobe? and those files are generic to all records?
You will need global container fields in your records table (or in a separate 'globals' table) - one for each PDF file - then place them in the body of your layout, in each container you can then insert a picture(icon) into, and be sure to check 'Store only a reference to the file', and set each one's Button Setup to Send Event - see screen shot.... (the Target Application defaults to the default application for that file on your system, eg PDF's will default to Adobe)
And be sure to insert the picture/icon into the field before setting up the Button Setup to Send Event
This has the added convenience that if you change the contents of the PDF, but retain the same name, your link will still work - provided the file also remains in the same physical location
Thank you works like a dream
