Is Supply Product Name unique for every record? Value lists based on fields will automatically drop out duplicate entries.
Have encountered that before yes, but not in this case. There is, as I said, about a 50% dropout rate and no duplicate names on the list.
Hmmm, then it should work, this is a method that has been in use in FileMaker systems for a long time.
Try this test on your file if you have FileMaker 11:
- With the file closed, select Recover from the File Menu.
- Select "Use advanced Options"
- Select only: "Copy File Blocks as-is" and "Rebuild Field Indexes Now".
This rebuilds all the indexes in your file in the recovered copy. Open this recovered copy and see if you get the same behavior.
Dude! I made a bit of a schoolboy error I'm afraid. I've only been using the program for a few months so I hope I'm excused!
The calculated field result was set to store as number rather than text, making the results a bit wonky.
Thanks for the help, DB is looking quite snazzy now!
And I had ruled out that possibility since specifying a number result type more typically results in only a single value appearing in the value list. I'm guessing you have numbers as part of the text returned.
Just goes to show that assumptions can be dangerous.
