Calculated field to look for specific characters in another field.

I'm looking to trap two different situations.  Not quite sure where to start.  Seems like find request is the function but don't know where to put it.

Situation #1 Create Calculated field that tells if there are certain characters in a text field like (,). @, $, and set it to Yes if they exist.

Situation #2 Create Calculated field that looks for "(" character and evaluates whether ")" is also there in a text field.

Is there a function for this?

The following answer assumes that you are checking the contents of a single field in the same record.

               Patterncount ( YourTextFieldHere ; "(" ) = PatternCount ( YourTextFieldHere ; ")" )

will be true only if there are the same number ( and ) characters in the field.

               Not IsEmpty ( Filter ( YourTextFieldHere ; "()@$" ) )

Will be true if any of the characters in the quoted string are also in YourTextFieldHere.
