Finally gave up and had the total time calculate from all the individual time elapsed fields. FMP must have a b-problem calculating from other calculation fields.
More likely some of the data entered wasn't getting properly submitted back to the server from the web browser.
Did each of your buttons include Commit Record after entering the timestamp value?
Thanks. Just starting out here. Not sure how to assign 'Commit Record' to buttons. All I find is the 'Specify Calculation' box. The defining field validation instructions do not match the options in the manage database window. The closest thing I can find is 'Storage Options'. Would checking 'Global' work?
Actually there were 3 fields that were incorrectly set as 'Text' instead of 'Time'. This may have caused the problem although it probably would have caused the same problem when using FMP on the host.
Things are working ok for now but I would like to know for the future.
I assumed that clicking Done enters the timestamp shown to the right of the button?
If so, set the buttons to perform a script. In the script step, use set field to enter the time stamp data followed by a commit records step.
You can create new scripts in Manage Scripts or from button setup after clicking the specify button for perform script followed by clicking the button with the + sign that stands for "add script". (Probably less confusing for new users like you to use Manage Scripts to create the script, then find it when setting up the button by selecting Perform Script, then clicking Specify to bring up the list of scripts.)
