When I set up a record with a Date field, I also create a field for a week number (yyyy.ww). I sort on this field for having totals by WEEK. You could subtotal on Week then Person. Nicely done.
I prefer this calculation which returns an actual date and can be used as such:
DateField - DayOfWeek(dateFIeld ) + 1
This returns the date for Sunday of the same week.
Phil, I have been using the calculation you actually suggested. When I put it in the report, it comes out like this;
What can I do to have it stop from displaying this way?
Select Date as your result type instead of number.
But a number result can be used at least for either grouping records by common week or by linking records in a self join in order to use the relationship to count or sub total values base on the week. The only difference that it makes to switch to a date result is that you then get a value that you can format to display a date identifying the "starting on" date for your week.
(The number you get is the number of days from 12/31/0000 to the Sunday date this calculation computes.)
The calculation I have is Date - DayOfWeek ( Date ) + 1 , but it's returning values like 1/25/0033
Better double check either the value (and type) of your date field or the exact set up of your relationship as your calculation is returning a value that is much too small.
