Yes, you can.
Create a value list with values coming from the code field but dispaying also the values of the country field.
You can even choose to sort by the second field.
Thanks for the reply, but not sure I understand. Here is how i interpreted your suggestion.
I enabled the option to display values from the second field first.
However, I am still unaware of where to import my list of countries and their corresponding codes... these will need to be value lists themselves, sorry for the confusion.

I'm trying to setup a field that will auto populate a countries corresponding code when that country is selected from a value list attached to another field...
Is that clear?
Format your country code field as the drop down list.
Format the list to show two columns. Code is your left column. Country is your right hand column. You can make the code visible or invisible depending on how you define your value list.
Now, when you select a country by name from the list, you will enter the matching code in to the code field.
