    Can't customize toolbar

      Can't customize toolbar

      Post

      FMPA 10, OSX 10.4.11

In one solution, if I open the Customize Toolbar dialog, the toolbar becomes grayed and I am unable to add or delete buttons. Icon/text selections allow changes, as does the size selection.

      Other solutions work properly.

I cannot discern any differences in File Options, nor would I expect there to be any. These are all standalone personal use solutions: no account, privilege or other menu changes originally created in 8.5 Adanced, always with default options except for opening and closing scripts.

What's the problem? What's preventing customization of the toolbar in this one solution?

          Thank you for your post.

Pull down the Tools menu and highlight "Custom Menus".  Is it set for [Standard FileMaker Menus] ?

Pull down the File menu and select "Manage -> Accounts & Privileges..."  Are there only two accounts with one check mark (Admin)?

Is this for Browse Mode?  Layout Mode?  or both?

Any additional information you can provide may be helpful.

            Yes to both settings questions.

            Browse mode only.

              Thanks for the clarification.

I have found a Mac with OS X 10.4.11 with FileMaker Pro 10 Advanced, and I've been trying a number of things to try and duplicate the problem, but I am unable to do so.

In one of my scripts, I even locked the Status Toolbar, but then I can't even access "Customize Status Toolbar...".  That's about the closest I have come.

Unfortunately, my day is over and I am leaving for the weekend.

Is there anybody else out there that has any ideas?

I will check back on Monday to see if this is resolved.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Wondering if the weekend break afforded any ideas?

Nothing else comes to mind.  However, I would like to see your file so I can duplicate the problem here.

I have sent you a private message (top of this page - right side - X Messages) with instructions where to send the file.

I have received your file, and I was able to see exactly what you described; the icons were grayed out.

I forwarded the file to our Development and Software Quality Assurance (Testing) departments, and they noticed that your Default Menu set was set to "Unknown".  How it got this way, they don't know.  However, if you change this Custom Menu Set to [Standard FileMaker Menus], then the file works properly.

Well, now. Ain't that as slick as can be?

My file is fixed, and you have something new for your arsenal of tricks.

                      Thanks.
