Set up a table, Logos, with two fields:
create a record in this table for each category. Enter the category name and insert the logo.
Relate it to your existing tables like this:
Now you can put the Logos::Logo field on your invoices layout and it will display the logo selected for the client that you select for that invoice.
Thanks! Really need to learn some more about databases and relations! Just a newbie to this all...
Do you also know if it's possible to hide the footer and header area from the print layout? I don't want them to be printed.
Either you select the contents that's in the header and footer and you select "Hide when printing" in the inspector.
It's in the Position tab under Object visibility.
Or if you are not using the headers and footers at all, just delete them.
Do this by going to layouts - Part Setup.
My header and footer section have a drak grey background. When I hide the content parts, this still will be printed. Is it possible to only select the body part to print? The header & footer part is only necessary for creating invoices etc...
Ah, I probably need to seperate them I guess. Would have been easy just to hide both sections or define the print margins myself... :D
Thanks for helping guys!
You could put a layout text object in the background in the header and footer parts, behind all other objects. Use conditional formats and the Get ( WindowMode ) function to specify a white fill color only when printing or in preview mode. (Look up the function in Help to find out which number returned represents print/preview.)
The best idea is seperate layouts.
If you want you could just copy (duplicate) your current layout by going to File - Manage - Layouts.
Then you just rename the duplicate and edit it. Making it optimal for print.
Then your print script will be something like.
- Set Variable (set your recordId) Name it something like $RecordId
- Go To Layout (Your Print Layout)
- Enter Find Mode (Uncheck Pause)
- Set Field (Set your ID field with the $RecordId)
- Perform Find
- Go to layout (Original)
Great! This is really great! Nice to learn more step by step... Wish I knew all this already myself :D
