Is there a way to correct or change that?
Yes, but ONLY if you haven't created related records. ( If yes, leave that ID number as it is ).
1) Show all records and put the cursor into the ID field of the first record
2) From menu: Records >> Replace Field Contents... >> Replace with serial numbers starting from 1 step 1 and CHECK : 'Update serial number in Entry Option ?'
put the cursor into the ID field
I have, it is greyed out...
The ID field must be NOT a calculation field, but a field that auto-enters a serial number
Go in define database and clear that box, just to do what I said, and then re-check it.
I think this is what you mean?....
"When you map the import fields, remove the arrow on the primary key serial number field. Then, in the dialog that pops up, have it recalculate values on import - I forget the exact dialog text, but it will renumber from where you specify.
Note this is dangerous if you are retaining any data and adding to it - you could end up with duplicate keys.
The other way would be to go into the key field data definition, and reset the starting serial number on auto-entry."
This was from another board...
thanks, it all helps...:-)
