The return type of the calculation should be text. If it's number, change it to text.
The records will need to sorted by this calcualtion field in order to group them. (And this sort won't work if the field does not have text specified as its return type.)
Yes, the calculation of the field 'Status' is set to return text. I've gone to the layout in question and sorted the records into Ascending order.
It certainly did go some way to solving the problem.
However, the data still isn't quite right. If I specify 'status' as the field name for my slice data, and 'status' as the field name for category labels, all of the category labels show up on the chart, but the pie only has one big slice.
Do you have a summary field that counts a never blank field in your table such as "category"?
If you specify it as the field for the data and be sure to specify that you are charting "groups of data when sorted", then sorting your found set of records by the category field should produce one wedge for each category.
Brilliant, that worked, thank you :)
On a related note, is there any way of displaying multiple charts concerning multiple tables/layout on one particular layout?
eg Chart A works with Layout A. Layout A is based on table A.
Chart B works with Layout B. Layout B is based on table B.
But I'd like to display both Chart A and Chart B on Layout C. Layout C is based on table C.
It depends on the chart the the structure of your database. Many charts can be created from a related table such as you might display the raw data in a portal.
You can also capture the image of a chart in a container field.
